Biography

Franco-Algerian lyric soprano, named Révélation Artiste Lyrique at the 2026 Victoires de la Musique Classique, Tamara Bounazou is establishing herself as one of the most striking voices of her generation. Her assertive eclecticism and arresting stage presence make her a deeply inhabited artist — actress as much as singer.

She has performed on the most prestigious European stages, including both halls of the Opéra National de Paris, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Cologne Philharmonie, the Opéra-Comique, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Schloßtheater of Schönbrunn in Vienna.

She has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Marc Minkowski, Barbara Hannigan, Antonello Manacorda, Pierre Bleuse, Sora Elisabeth Lee, and Thomas Hengelbrock.

Passionate about poetry and the chamber music repertoire, she founded with pianist Anna Giorgi the Duo Moine ou Voyou. Together they have won the First Prize at the Lyon International Chamber Music Competition, as well as the ADAMI Prize, the SACEM Prize, the Bullukian Foundation Prize, and the Grandes Écoles Prize.

The year 2025 marked a decisive turning point in her career. Following her debut at the Verbier Festival, she embodied the title role of Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride at the Opéra Comique, in a staging by Wajdi Mouawad under the baton of Louis Langrée. The production earned her unanimous critical acclaim.
